Sabuy Dee | Mellow Motif (2010) ★★★★☆
Jazzbirds are back. The sophomore album of the band mellow motif entitled “Sabuy Dee” (Literally means fine, in Thai). This time they come in swing mood. I love their arrangements and the variety of songs they chose such as “Lullaby of Birdland” (1952), “I Won’t Dance” from musical Three Sisters (1934), “Happy Talk” from musical South Pacific (1949). Interestingly this album also features two original songs; “A Swing for Singha” and “Kit Kat”.

This is another great album from Mellow Motif, you can feel the maturity in their music. And I just so love the bassline. The scat is wonderful. Sabuy Dee is highly recommended, never to be missed.

The album contains nine tracks as follow; 1. Lullaby of Birdland (George Shearing / George David Weiss) 2. I Won’t Dance (Jerome Kern) 3. Sabuy Dee (Prapas Cholsaranon) 4. Happy Talk (Rodgers and Hammerstein) 5. A Swing for Singha (Eugene Ang / Natasha Patamapongs) 6. Frim Fram Sauce (Joe Ricardel / Redd Evans) 7. Kit Kat (Eugene Ang / Natasha Patamapongs) 8. They All Laughed (George Gershwin / Ira Gershwin) 9. Tur Moon Rob Chun, Chun Moon Rob Tur (Prapas Cholsaranon)
