toutes les femmes en moi | lara fabian (2009)

the sixth studio album from one of my favorite artists, lara fabian. it has been four years since her last studio album “9″ released in 2005. she picked and filled the album with songs from the past.
literally toutes les femmes en moi is a cover album featuring the tunes from nana mouskouri (soleil soleil), diane dufresne (j’ai douze ans), véronique sanson (amoureuse), barbara (göttingen), dalida (il venait d’avoir 18 ans), nicoletta (mamy blue), maurane (ça casse), nicole croisille (une femme avec toi), céline dion (l’amour existe encore), françoise hardy (message personnel), catherine lara (nuit magique), édith piaf (l’hymne à l’amour) plus one original song written by lara fabian (toute les femmes en moi)
there are definitely good cover songs in this album such as the lead single “soleil soleil”, “j’ai douze ans”, “gottigen, “il venait d’voir 18 ans”, and “nuit magique”. however the rest just sounds below my standard, well, below her usual standard that i highly anticipated for from lara fabian. the music arrangement is kinda lame, i mean this is the year 2009 not 1999, either you should come up with superb music arrangement or go purely acoustic because the music arrangement in half of the songs in this album makes me feel like they were made in the 90s then i look up my calendar on my desk again and it still says 2009.
overall this album is a bit disappointment for me, not only there is only one new song “toutes les femmes en moi” which i do not like. the cover songs come with boring arrangement, and the great voice of lara fabian cannot brighten up as it should be. there is high rise and really really deep fall in this album. if you have no idea who lara fabian is, i would not recommend this album. please try her albums “9″ or “nue” for the start.
