fame is a remake based very loosely on famous 1980 musical film same title which follows new york city talented kids attending new york high school of performing arts. gifted students will get specialized training so they could pursue their talents that most likely leads to the success in professional performing arts career.

the film is split into five sections like the original; the auditions where gifted kids have to show their talents to get accepted by the school, followed by four years of studying as freshman, sophomore, junior and senior years.

since there are many characters in this film, it is difficult to focus on any character’s profile in particular. and they have to wrap everything up in four years within 107 minutes movie length. unfortunately this remake is no match to the original for the story-telling, everything looks scattered. however every scene which features performing arts like singing, and dancing is spectacular. new songs written for this film are also beautiful, all the songs get updates including the original tunes “out here on my own” and the famous theme song “fame

this film is quite entertaining to watch. it is a feel good film, about talented kids trying to follow their own dreams. it features with great songs and dance. debbie allen who was the orginal cast of fame (1980) is also back in this remake. one of the reasons i went to see this film because kherington payne is in it.
