Random Lockscreen Wallpaper

Just because one Lockscreen wallpaper is boring and I am too lazy to change it everyday.

Requirements:
» Jailbroken iPhone with SSH and WinterBoard installed.
» FTP application which can drop files into iPhone.

This is the modification of RandomLS v2 to work with iPhone 4.
If you are ready you may want to fetch the file here.

Unzip RandomLockBackground.zip and you will see LockBackground.html and private folder. SFTP to your iPhone, navigate to /private/var/stash/Themes.***/Current theme you are using, and drop files in there.

Respring your SpringBoard and you’re good to go.
The Lockscreen wallpaper will randomly change every time you unlock the phone.

* All wallpaper-images are the work of 天野喜孝 (Amano Yoshitaka).
* You can replace the images inside private/Wallpapers to suit your preference.
* You can edit LockBackground.html if you want to add more images into the array.
* To remove clock from Lockscreen, you need to install Lockscreen Clock Hide from Cydia.

Final Fantasy III

ファイナルファンタジーIII, one of the best Role-Playing Games ever made has landed on iOS. Final Fantasy III was first released by Square in 1990 for Nintendo Famicom system featuring the first time ever job-change system on FF series. Four people are chosen by the magic crystal, set out to explore and bring back balance to the world.

iOS version is based on Nintendo DS remake with higher resolution graphic. Comparing to the enhanced version of first two installments which were previously released on iPhone in 2010, well, don’t compare, this one is so much better, it is superb actually. Final Fantasy III costs $15.99 on iTunes.

Labelbox

Latest addition to my photography section on my phone. From Stepcase, the creator of famous Phototreats. Introducing new way for photo labeling with Labelbox.

The application does exactly as its name, labeling your photo with eight stylish labels, each came with its own specific font. The interface is beautiful as always. It is very easy to use, just load photo from your library or take new one then tap a label you want and swipe your finger across a photo just like the way you do with real thing! If you want to remove a label, just touch and hold your finger for a moment and it will disappear.

Labelbox is free, you can get it from App Store. Currently they are running a campaign which will activate four additional types of cloth pack label (Fabric, Camouflage, Polka Dot, and Floral). All you have to do is follow the instruction on this page. Labelbox is a perfect companion of Phototreats!

Polka Dot is a bit difficult to read, but hey it’s super lovely. You cannot edit text after switching to another label or move label around once you finish typing, all you can do is remove it and make a new one. But I believe it makes sense just like a real label. It’s not like you can write a paragraph on it anyway.

If you use landscape photo, the app will rotate it to portrait position, which can be frustrated at first but the app will save the photo in original orientation. I don’t know if this possible but it would be great if they can force landscape mode keyboard to appear if landscape photo is loaded into the app because I always put a lock on phone orientation and it is weird to see keyboard not showing in the same orientation as the photo.

Cable Modem

I switched from true ADSL to true Cable modem for half a month now. So far there is no problem with uploading or downloading speed. Well I’m not using it all the time anyway. The package starts from 699 Baht with 10 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload. It comes with Cisco cable modem model 2100R as in the photo above.

If you want to use wireless devices you will need another wireless router with internet port (WAN) to connect with the provided Cisco cable modem. The good thing is you don’t need telephone number to use cable modem (and of course no longer have to pay 107 baht for telephone line which I never use to call anyone.)

I’m a fan of Art. Lebedev Studio. They just released (Not just, in June to be exact) a simple counter application for iPhone called “Счетчик” (Counter in russian). It allows you to keep simple statistics. You can count, for example, how many airplanes fly over, or the number of candies you eat, or cups of coffee you drink, or attractive people around, or whatever you want to count…

The application supports up to 10 counters running simultaneously. Each item has the maximum limit count of 999, the beginning date and time is also recorded. You can get the counter for free from App Store, I already got mine without knowing when I would be using it though.

Last.fm Tools are a collection of data tools that provide advanced information based on the Last.fm API. I have been a regular user of last.fm since December 2004, so I gave it a try. And here is my Artist Cloud based on my listening preferences. This is pretty neat indeed, I have four names lying in the middle.

Besides Artist Cloud, there are also Tag Cloud, Album Cloud, Friends Graph, Friend Soulmates, and Average Neighbor. If you are a last.fm user, you might want to give it a try.

it allows to to create sophisticate pattern on the fly when you move your pointer over the canvase, with some cool features like color and adjustable brush setting. people can create amazing drawing instantly!

blackberry twitter clients

comparison of popular twitter clients for blackberry; übertwitter, openbreak (formerly known as twitterberry), and tweetgenius. well i am pretty much terrified by 21 pages of configuration in übertwitter, and it only supports photo upload to mypict.me (which features one of the crappiest interfaces on the planet.) and tweetphoto. but übertwitter is probably the best option for the users who ain’t considering paid-application for twitter.

so far, none of them features “reply all” which inserts every user in a particular tweet into a new reply-tweet and automatically omits the main username. i am looking forward for that in the future release.

yep, i’m currently playing restaurant city (aka #rc) developed by playfish, the same people behind pet society (#ps). restaurant city is still in beta, the good thing about this game is i don’t have to pay attention on the game all the time, just keep checking once in a while to see if my employees are too exhausted or not (the keyword is 42). and oh, you need facebook account to able to play this game.

in restaurant city, you get to modify your appearance, decorate your restaurant, gain up gourmet points, maximize your popularity, level up your dishes by collecting or trading ingredients with other players.

Just found a cool application for iphone called “randomring” by Alice Anto
This tiny application is capable of doing exactly as its name, randomize ringtone. You can find it on cydia under ispazio repository. However if you cannot access ispazio you can still install it manually by download this archive and follow this simple instruction. (You need SSH installed on your phone and FTP program)

1. copy com.iw2bsq.RandomRing.plist to /Library/LaunchDaemons
2. create folder RandomRing under /usr/bin/
3. copy RR into /usr/bin/RandomRing
4. set its permission to 755
5. restart your phone
6. connect your phone with iTunes
7. drag RandomRing.m4r into iTunes
8. sync RandomRing to your phone
9. on your phone, go to Settings > Sounds -> Ringtone
10. select RandomRing

This application works only ringtones managed/synced with itunes.
Every time your phone rings, it will be shuffled.

With this application, I am in the mood for making ringtone again!
Here’s a set of ringtones from 80s, available both m4r for iphone and mp3 for other phones.

twitterfon currently is my most favorite twitter client on iphone.

twitterfon is simple, fast, and quite stable on gprs/edge.
it features four significant tabs; friends timeline tab where i can view all tweets from my friends and me, replies tabs where it displays all replies to me, direct messages tab which shows all direct messages (in conversion view!). and the last tab is called ‘search’ which i can search for specific keyword in tweets.
its user interface is simple and very user-friendly.

by clicking on user’s avatar it will automatically insert @user to reply to particular user.
to send reply to many users, just hit close and click the next avatar.

by clicking on the arrow it will display user’s tweet and gives several options to select whether to reply, to send direct messages, to retweet, to view user’s timeline or view user’s profile

the smart blue round button with arrow appears when there’s at least one @user or one link is in the tweet.
in case there’s only one @user, it will display that user’s timeline.
in case there’s only one link (url) it will display the link with browser embed within the application itself which features button to tweet the url or popout the link with safari.
in case there’re multiple users and links, it will display all the possible options as listing instead.

twitterfon integrates twitpic, photo can be shot or selected from the the existing ones then upload to twitpic, fetch the url and send tweet instantly.

user can delete own tweets quickly and can also mark favorite tweet as well, however there’s no option to view ‘favorite tweets’ yet. it doesn’t matter to me though, it might or might not be implemented in next release.

so far, twitterfon is the best twitter client for iphone i have ever used.

just did upgrade iphone firmware to version 2.2
it comes with emoji!
emoji is a standard set of emoticons included in every japanese phone
for unknown reason, apple has locked down emoji in iphone outside japan.

to enable this wicked emoji, you need to go into cydia app
go to sections -> tweaks -> emoji
after the installation is completed go to…
phone settings -> general -> international -> keyboards -> japanese -> emoji

emoji works fine on sms and web.
unfortunately iphones that run firmware version under than 2.2 will not be able to see these emoticons.

กล้องตัวใหม่ ก็ยังคงซื้อเป็นกล้อง compact ต่อไป
เนื่องจาก dslr มันใหญ่ + หนัก + ไม่ได้คิดจะถ่ายรูปเป็นอาชีพ
ตอนแรกว่าจะซื้อ ricoh caplio gx200 แต่บอดี้พลาสติคมันจับแล้วกรอบยังไงไม่รู้
แล้วก็หันไปสนใจ casio ex-fh20 เนื่องจาก 20x optical zoom / ถ่ายต่อเนื่องได้ 40fps / ถ่ายวิดีโอไฮสปีดได้ 1000fps แต่คิดอีกที ฟังก์ชั่นมันดูเล่นมากไปหน่อย ปกติคงไม่ได้ถ่ายอะไรแบบนั้น …สุดท้ายก็ได้ panasonic lumix dmc-lx3 มา

poladroid

poladriod is an application that can create polaroid-like pictures from digital photo. by creating, i mean you can actually print it out with high quality just like real polaroid photo.

poladroid is very easy to use, all you have to do is drag & drop your photo into polaroid camera, within 10 seconds it will pop out the photo (with polaroid sound!). then you can just wait for the photo to slowly develop like an actual polaroid photo or you can shake the photo to accelerate the process.

pros:
- option to alert if the digital photo is too small for printing
- auto-rotate photo
- thumbphoto randomized rotation
- post-processing available for photo and paper (this function is really neat!)
- allow creating output from being-processed-picture

cons:
- only support jpeg format
- no quick output, you have to wait for the process to finish
- the memory slot is for 10 photos, cannot process more than that unless restarting the app
- cannot delete any photo to free the memory slot.
- cannot change prefix, postfix of the output filename

you can get poladroid for free at poladroid, right at this moment it’s only available on os x. windows version is expected to release someday in november.

the pro version of poladroid is planned to include; signature/logo insertion, additional support for other picture format, graphic effects, paper texture, color algorythm, random framing, adjustable positioning.
